959 Olympia SG1 7.6 De Luxe Typewriter SG-1 made in Germany!
    DISCLAIMER:
We find and resell all kinds of things and are NOT typewriter experts.  PLEASE look closely at the pics and ask any questions you may have.  The info in this listing is comprised of our best guess after some basic Googlin'.
    MODEL:
This is the Olympia SG-1, 7.6 De Luxe Typewriter.  It's made in Germany.
    SERIAL NUMBER:
7-463513 -- This dates this machine to 1959 according to an online serial number database.
    CONDITION:
The typewriter is in good, solid condition, with
some scuffs and other signs of use
.  It was very dirty when we got it and we did a basic clean and oil... nothing more.  In the pics, you'll see the guts with the covers removed.  There are two places on the front corners where the finish is gone and mild corrosion has begun.  (SEE PICS)  Some surfaces on the inside show minor corrosion as well, but the red steel frame inside looks nice and is super cool!  Those wacky Germans knew how to build a typewriter!
    THE COVER:
The machine will come with a nice, green Olympia dust cover.  This was also very dirty but cleaned up quite nicely!  There is some staining and a small hole.
    OPERATION:
After cleaning and lightly oiling with sewing machine oil... this old beastie types right along.  A f
ew keys are a bit sluggish
to return to their starting point.  They don't usually stick up at the paper, but don't return all the way back down.  The tab, set and clear work, as do the margin sets and stops.  I typed all the keys a few times.   All the knobs and buttons move and turn and spacing setting works as well.  The pressure dial seems to make a nice, noticeable difference as you move from 1 to 8.
If there is anything else you'd like me to check, just ask!  This will need a new ribbon, which you can see clearly in the pic showing the typing I did.
    SHIPPING:
The price includes FREE shipping via FedEx.  This weighs in at nearly 50 pounds!  It may come to you with the carriage removed... however this is 5 second job to put it back on .... line it up, drop it in and turn the knobs on either side of the case to lock it in.  I'll include an instruction sheet.
NOTE for folks with a P.O. Box:
FedEx won't ship to a PO so I've excluded PO addresses.  If you need to have it shipped to a PO, request a custom quote from me....
Overall, this is great place to start for a full restoration / restore.  Or just clean it a bit more and use the old boy!  Would look great just displayed in your collection as well!  Please check out all the pics, and ask any questions you may have!
    Thanks for looking!
