Description
Designers E.E. Barney and Frank Tanner patented their Ideal typewriter in 1897. Seidel & Naumann of Dresden, makers of bicycles and sewing machines, started to produce the Ideal typewriter in 1900. The Ideal is distinctive with its beautiful molded ornate cast iron side panels. The carriage return lever is positioned just behind the keyboard, not on the carriage, allowing for an easy action to move the carriage back and advance the line at the same time. The Ideal is a typical sturdy German Made Typewriter.Description:
This is an Ideal Model A2 typewriter. Serial No. 4625 which dates it to 1902. I have cleaned, lubricated, polished, and restored the typewriter to useable condition. The platen has been recovered and it has new ink. The #4 key sticks a bit.
Condition:
This Ideal A2 is in excellent cosmetic condition considering it is over a hundred years old. This is a rare machine with an early Serial number. It is in overall nice condition.
I will be listing many typewriters in the coming months; please keep an eye on my auctions.
I am happy to answer any questions that you have. Thank you for taking a look.
