Description
Collectors Dream - 1954 Smith-Corona Skyriter Typewriter with original box and contents. It isn't often when you come across a classic Smith-Corona typewriter that appears as if it was miraculously transported from the factory in 1954 to 2021. This amazing Skyriter doesn't look anywhere near its 67 years of age. The case is in pristine condition and it types like a dream. The original box is in mint condition. Much like an archaeologist finding ancient ruins, I was shocked to find the original manual, touch typing chart, brush, Skyriter tag, and cellophane for the manual all perfectly preserved inside the box!
For those unfamiliar with the Skyriter, it was originally manufactured as the Zephyr in 1938. Shortly after the end of World War II, Smith-Corona redesigned it as the Skyriter. As air travel became more common, this classic ultraportable was marketed as the perfect travel machine since it fit comfortably under the seat in a plane.
Please examine each of the posted photos. This machine is ready to type. All features on this machine work. None of the keys stick, the bell rings clearly, the margins work perfectly, and the platen holds the paper firmly in place. It has a new ribbon; however, I am including the original metal spools. The new owner will have many, many years of creativity, correspondence, and conversation with this machine!
