NYC Subway Straphanger 1930s-1940s Mounted Industrial New York City Chic

This New York City strap, made of iron and porcelain, is an old New York original. Patented in the 1930's this industrial powerhouse hung in subways until about 1950. These novelty wooden plaques were made in the 1990s. The brass plaque reads:  " 'Straphanger' from Old New York Subway Cars."
Heavy and chic, this is a great conversation piece. And if you want it to work, put it by your front door as a doorknocker. Made to last, this strap has many years of life. Otherwise, hanging on your wall, it is a conversation starter.
