This card was purchased in Amsterdam, Netherlands, by my friend, Lotje. She scours all the great cities of Europe for unusual and beautiful vintage and antique postcards.  This postcard was shipped from The Netherlands to the USA by Lotje.
On the front of this rare old postcard is an art portrait of 2 dogs, a Greyhound and a Borzoi.  The painting was created by the famous Dutch artist, Van Dyke.  There is also a handwritten message on the front of this postcaard in Dutch.   On the back is a handwritten address in the Netherlands. It was mailed from Belgium.  The postmark is dated 1899 and there is an orange stamp with a portrait of Belgian King Leopold II on it that was first issued in 1893.  It is rare to find an intact postcard before 1900!
This postcard was published  in the Netherlands during the early 1940s.
Measurements are approximately 4" x 5.75"
so this is a standard size postcard.  Aside from very few signs of surface wear,  this postcard is still easy to see and appreciate!
