Professionally refurbished - cleaned, serviced, and adjusted to factory specs -
Olivetti created a fiery red portable typewriter which quickly became so iconic that it was already part of MoMA's permanent collection by 1971. The Olivetti Valentine portable typewriter was designed by industrial designer Perry King in collaboration with Ettore Sottsass and was released in 1969. Its radical design was revolutionary and expresses the mood of the 60s - goodbye to the bulky housings of old typewriters and hello to new mobility. When the outer case is closed, the Valentine is totally covered by a simple plastic shell. The Valentine is revered as a 20th century design icon and has been collected and displayed by design museums internationally. This beauty is ready to type. It has been cleaned, serviced, and adjusted to factory specs. The feed rollers have been cleaned or replaced as necessary and any worn or damaged parts were repaired or replaced. The typewriter body has 100% original color from the factory and the machine has been thoroughly tested and a brand new 2-color black and red cotton ribbon is freshly installed. All this work guarantees you years of trouble-free operation. The machine inside has been lovingly used and cared for as you can see in the pictures. I'd rate it cosmetically a 9 on a 10 scale - almost a collector's item and a workhorse that is ready to serve another 50 years of duty. Note that this machine has an Italian QZERTY keyboard.
The hard case is in very good condition with only a few scuffs and scrapes and dings, you can see in the pictures 50 years worth of care, the machine inside has been lovingly used but not abused - it is exceptionally clean, included are the manual and a fresh replacement ribbon.
