Description
White-bordered real photo postcard of Fourth Avenue, Seward, Alaska, 1929, by the Alaska Store, showing the railroad crossing, the "Arcade" (first building on right), which housed "The Seward Daily Gateway" (written on the side of the building), which was the local newspaper, and, further up the street, Urbach's Clothier, which, in 2015, celebrated its 100th Anniversary! Among the stores on the left are a rooming house, and Brown and Hawkins general store, founded in 1904, and the oldest store in Alaska under the same ownership -almost 110 years old- until it closed its doors in 2013 (barely beating out Urbach's!). Condition -- shallow crease in upper right corner; a little edge wear/discoloration; some surface dirt. Please see scans.
