Vintage 1948 New York Subway BMT R-10 Route Rollsign In an R-11 Car Signbox

You are bidding on a real gem: An ANTIQUE 1948 roll sign from an R10 class New York Subway car that is mounted in an R-11 class subway car signbox.
These R-10 cars were built by American Car and Foundry in 1948. They were out of passenger service by late 1989.   The R-11 cars were built in 1948 by The Budd Company - only 10 were built.
This particular sign was made by The Hunter Illuminated Car Sign Co on Sept. 21, 1948.
Sign reads: "SIDE ROUTE No. 3 BMT".
Sign curtain is made of keystone material.
The sign was made to show the same destination inside and outside the train on the same material.  That is why the destinations are all printed twice, with one upside-down.

The signbox measures 32 inches by 6 inches by 8 inches.
The R-11 sign boxes were the only one with the distinct art-deco crank handle.
Sign is in great condition with an imperfection or 2.  Some dirt.  Signbox was sandblasted, repainted  & overhauled.
